keuka lake outlet trail

The short Keuka Outlet Trail located in western New York State was once a short branch of the New York Central System NYC. The dense vegetation provides long stretches of shade making the hike cool and bearable on hot days.

3 reviews of Keuka Lake Outlet Trail My husband and I hiked the Keuka Outlet Trail on our recent trip to Keuka Lake.

. Beautiful trail with incredible views of the jungle of Puerto Vallarta. This is a really easy walkhike The trail is gravel but you could push a stroller pretty easily. We walked to the trailhead from the Best Western in Penn Yan stopped at the Blue Heron Bakery for fuel then started our trek. Soon after it was completed the line became another of the Fall Brook Coal Companys network of railroads before it was acquired by the NYC.

The Keuka Lake Outlet Trail often referred to as simply the Outlet Trail follows a generally downhill course from the outlet of Keuka Lake in Penn Yan to the inlet along Seneca Lake in Dresden. The trail varies from paved sections in Penn Yann to broad stone dust paths to mixed gravel to worn single track. The railroad dated to the late 1870s and at that time was known by another name. This trail begins at the Church of Mismaloya and will take you to El Edén de Mismaloya Park and you will cross streams along your way.
